How Water Intake Calculator works

How does the water intake number get calculated?

The baseline is a commonly cited rule of thumb of 33ml per kilogram of body weight. On top of that, it adds roughly 350ml for every 30 minutes of exercise you log, then converts the total from milliliters into liters and an approximate cup count based on 240ml per cup.

When would I use a water intake calculator?

It's handy when you're trying to build a habit of drinking enough water, especially on days with a workout, since the exercise input raises the recommendation automatically. It also gives a rough cup-count target that can be easier to track through the day than a liter figure.

Does this account for climate or health conditions?

No - it's a simple weight-and-exercise formula, so it doesn't factor in heat, humidity, altitude, pregnancy, or medical conditions like kidney or heart issues that change fluid needs. This is a general estimate, not medical advice; anyone with a health condition affecting fluid balance should follow their doctor's guidance instead.
