How Wordle Solver works
How does the Wordle solver work?
The page fetches a list of roughly 14,800 five-letter words from a text file and keeps it in the browser. Each guess row you fill in and color-code (gray, yellow, or green) becomes a constraint, and the solver runs every word in the list through that constraint set: green positions must match exactly, yellow letters must be present but not in that spot, and gray letters are capped so a letter already confirmed green or yellow elsewhere in the same guess isn't wrongly excluded. What is left after all guesses are applied is your candidate list.
When would I use this?
It's for the point mid-puzzle where you've got two or three guesses in and the number of plausible words is still too high to just guess blindly. Enter what you've played, set each tile's color to match what Wordle showed you, and narrow the field before your next guess.
How complete is the word list, and are results capped?
The list of about 14,800 words is a general five-letter word set, not the official (much smaller) Wordle answer list, so some suggestions are valid guesses that would never be a puzzle solution. Only the first 200 matches are displayed even when more words satisfy your constraints, so a very loose set of guesses may hide results below that cutoff.
